The Early Learning Task Force Created a Collaborative Community for Learning

“Every child needs a champion an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connections and insists they become the best they can possibly be.” Rita Pierson

For 2 days Manatee Country Early Learning teachers and support staff have been learning together.  140 dedicated educators from the Manatee County School District, Head Start and the Early Learning Coalition attended a Conscious Discipline workshop.

Conscious Discipline is an evidence-based national model for character development.  It integrates social and emotional learning, discipline and self-regulation so early learning teachers will spend less time policing behaviors and more time teaching vital life skills.  Collectively our teachers are learning to respond to daily conflict in a way that transforms it into an opportunity to teach critical life skills.

Teachers will always have students that challenge them.  Establishing rules and routines will help lay the foundation for the school year.  From greetings to good byes we are learning how to build Our School Family and QTIP (Quit Taking It Personally).

Collectively we will make a positive difference in the lives of our 4 year olds.  This two day collaborative learning opportunity is affirming our early learning community will be champions for their early learning students.
