Wyatt from Blackburn Elementary

“He loves his hat; he wears it whenever he’s not in school,” Mom says of son, Wyatt, who is showing another child his prized possession. A VPK student at Blackburn, Soar in 4 has changed Wyatt’s educational trajectory.  Wyatt’s mom shared “It’s very important for him to interact with other kids and adults; usually he is so shy that he can’t even talk to others.”  Soar in 4 has helped Wyatt communicate better, his mom explained, encouraging him to make friends at school and express his needs with his teacher. Wyatt was invested in every activity at Soar; he spent over an hour painting, and was joyously playing an instrument while listening to “Chicka Chicka Boom Boom.” Wyatt is also ReadingPal—a program aligned with Soar in 4. “He loves reading even more now with these programs.”

Wyatt a student in the Blackburn Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten program attended Soar in 4 with his mother this summer and is continuing through the school year. “Wyatt just loves the painting…we got here a little after 5:00 pm and did not move on until just now [6:15 pm].”
